You like skewers is located inside the K market food court. They have been around since the beginning of this market opening. I have never tried their skewers but tried the malatang twice. The ordering process is somewhat self serve. You grab a bowl and tong and put in whatever ingredients you want. There is a good variety of ingredients. My favorite is the thick glass noodle and the quail eggs. There are 4 spice levels and I usually go with level 1. You can always add more chilli oil if you want as they have a little jar of chilli oil near the pick up. In terms of food quantity, it feels ljke a lot but I would say it isn't cheap. But the taste is very good! The broth has a rich flavor and the spice level is accurate. If you want to be full, you should be prepared to spend around $25. There are open seating options as the tables are shared for everyone to use. It is an open atmosphere so there isn't much privacy. The staff are helpful and friendly.

This business has been here since the beginning of K market food court opening, but a few things have changed. They added the malatang option fairly recently (a little over a year?). The good thing is that you can build your own malatang bowl. They give you a bowl and tongs and you can select the ingredients you want. There's a good variety of ingredients that you can pick. Just be mindful that sometimes your eyes are bigger than your stomach, but in this case, your eyes might be bigger than your wallet. Since it is $14.99 or $15.99 per pound. It can add up quickly and go over what you may have thought of paying for a bowl of food. I believe you still have to meet at least a pound. You can choose your spice level and meat option. They'll give you a buzzer while you wait. The food comes out pretty quickly and it comes out in a large bowl with a lot of broth. It is big enough to share. Compared to other malatang that I have tried, there isn't much tongue numbing spices in this one which comes down to personal preference. I came here twice in a week because it was so good!

I've come here maybe 4 times in the span of 1.5 months, it is that good. My expectations of Malatang were pretty high after trying it in NYC but this place has to be putting crack in their broth because I can't stop eating it. You ask for a bowl to get all of your ingredients and then bring it to the scale for them to weigh. Then you choose if you want Malatang or dry, meat, and then spice level. I will say, only flaw is that it can take quite a bit for the food to come out, especially if it's busy, hence the 4 stars. I noticed the employee will stack all the bowls until there is no customer line, and then take it to the back to start cooking. So you can go 10+ minutes after ordering with your bowl still on the counter.

It reminded me so much of Korea's mala tang restaurant in Korea! Its a Chinese dish but one of my favorite hot pot styles and so happy I finally found a awesome one in Fairfax! The mild was the perfect spice level. Still you can feel a little bit of tingle of spice but not too spicy. They are so well cooked with the veggies. You can choose any type of toppings and you can add meat too! Perfect meal for cold weathers ! The people taking orders were friendly as well and it was a easy vibe to dine in.

First time here to check out their dry hot pot. Not many places in the DMV serve it, so it was good to find another place. And this is probably the top place in the area. Grabbed a bowl to start selecting veggies, noods, tofu, fish balls, etc and they had a pretty decent selection. All of the ingredients were sitting out in separate containers in water to keep them fresh, so be sure to have them drain the water before they weigh. Its currently $22/lb plus $3/meat (beef, chicken, spam, etc), so we went with beef. We had about 1.25lbs and it was a pretty good portion that 2-3 people could have shared since it also comes with rice. Also had the lamb skewers which were great, $9 for 3 skewers. They seemed to have a pretty steady crowd on a random Monday, will definitely be back soon.

I have tried countless places that serve mala tang but I have to say this place is just the Best!!. You can pick your own ingredients. The people that work there always greet you with smile and you feel welcomed each time. One other thing is that when you weigh the ingredients they always remove the water and the weight of the basket but I have been to sorimara which opened a few weeks ago and I noticed that they DONOT do that. That did not seem fair.

The attached pictures are only a small percentage of the amount of times my boyfriend and I have come here this past year lol. After falling in love with build-your-own malatang in the west coast, we've been dying for something similar over in the DMV. We both knew this place existed in Kmarket but didn't realize they had the option for malatang until we saw the little shelves of ingredients. Even though it's a small, unsuspecting spot in the food hall of Kmarket, this might be our favorite malatang! The ingredient options are more limited, and it is a shame we have to add the meat portions for an additional price after we pick our ingredients but the flavor is so delicious and consistent that we really don't mind it anymore. You can also choose between Malatang (soup) or Malaxiangguo (dry pot/stir fried). The soup is so deep in flavor with that numbing spice making it so addicting. My favorite ingredients are the woodear mushrooms and fish ball with roe. So yum! My boyfriend and I share a bowl because there is a 1lb minimum that is hard to reach by ourselves without the meat. They don't skimp out on the broth though, so it's definitely enough for the two of us! They offer many other items including skewers and spicy stir fried dishes (we tried the gopchang and it is so yum!) The skewers are also delicious, covered in the many seasonings and spices that make it so strong in flavor and numbing but addicting. We come here so often the employees probably wonder where we are if we miss a weekend haha Definitely try this place out!
